In this blog, we will discuss CUET syllabus 2026, Exam Pattern, Books, PYQ, Important Topics and Detailed Syllabus and everything related to CUET, which is commonly known as the Common University Entrance Test, it is one of the Exams in which the number of Enrollment is more than 15 Lakhs. Last year, the total number of students who appeared in CUET was 12 lakh. The National Testing Agency (NTA) also released the CUET syllabus on its portal for all subjects.

The National Testing Agency which is an autonomous body has been mandated by the Ministry of Education and UGC to conduct the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission into Undergraduate Programmes in Central Universities under the Ministry of Education, and other participating Universities / Institutions / Organizations / Autonomous Colleges.

The CUET (UG) provides a single window opportunity to students seeking admission in any of the Central Universities (CUs) or other participating organizations (including State Universities, Deemed and Private Universities) across the Country.

For the Academic Session 2026-27, CUET (UG) – 2026 will be conducted in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.

WHAT IS CUET?

If you are in class 11, 12 droppers, or simply a “student”. You have heard this word so many times from almost everywhere. And if you are also questioning yourself like what is CUET or CUCET, why CUET, and how can I appear for this exam?

Here I am gonna tell you everything about this Exam in a very simple way. But if still, some questions strike your mind. Leave that question in the comments section below.

So firstly let me tell you the full form of CUET. CUET-Common University Entrance Test.

So basically it is the entrance exam for so many universities including Central Universities all over India. So if anyone want to pursue their career in Arts then they need to crack CUET examination and if one of your dreams is to study at one of the top universities in India. You have to appear for this examination.

Now I am gonna tell you everything you need to know before appearing for this exam.

CUET syllabus 2026

1. Universities:

Over 49 Central Universities, including Aligarh Muslim University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi University, Assam University, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Banaras Hindu University, Central University of Andhra Pradesh, Central University of South Bihar, Central University of Gujarat, Central University of Haryana, Central University of Himachal Pradesh, and the Central University of Jammu. Currently, all the universities are participating in CUET including 49 Central Universities (CUs), 37 State Universities, 26 Deemed Universities, 110 Private Universities and 7 other Government institution.

2. Hybrid mode (Online or offline/ Pen & Paper?):

No, it is not in Hybrid mode but It will be a computer-based test (CBT) with objective-type multiple-choice questions. NTA conducts the Entrance Exam in online CBT.

3. Examination fee:

CUET UG Fee Structure

CUET UG fee structure depends on the Candidate’s Category and the number of subjects chosen by students. it’s important for students to understand these structures.

CUET Fee 2025: OBC category (NCL)/EWS

OBC students need to pay less. Students need to upload the Central OBC-NCL/ EWS category certificate and government certificate while filling the application form.

**Other Backward list – Non Creamy Layer as per central list of OBC available on National Commission for Backward Classes(NCBC), Government of India website. www.ncbc.nic.in . Those candidate who are not in Central OBC list must choose General/ Unreserved.

CUET Fee 2025: SC/ST and Reserved categories

students belonging from SC, ST, PwBD and third gender category needs to pay lesser among all. Students need to upload the Central SC/ST category certificate and government certificate while filling out the application form.

CUET Fee 2025: International Students

Fees for International students is higher than all other students and it is usually high.

CUET FEE 2025: Mode of Payment

The CUET 2025 application fee can be paid online through various Mode such as:

  • Credit/debit cards
  • UPI, Paytm, or
  • Net banking.

4. Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the CUET 2026, candidates must have obtained a minimum of 50% in Class 12 from a recognised board in the General category (5% relaxation in other categories) and a minimum of 45 percent in the SC/ST category.

There is no age limit for candidates. However, the candidate will be required to fulfill the age criteria (if any) of the university / Institution / Organisation in which they are desirous of taking admission.

5. Maximum Subject Allowed

From the above subjects/languages, the candidate can choose a maximum of 05 (five) subjects from all three Sections.

6. Duration of Exam:

60 minutes per subject ( Maximum duration can go up to 3 hours for 3 subjects) except for Mathematics/Applied Mathematics, Accountancy, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Computer Science/Informatics Practices, and General Tests which would be 60 minutes.
20 min extra will be provided for PwD/ PwBD candidates for a one-hour examination.

Note: It is advisable for students to select at least one language and the General Test.

7. Examination Shift:

The examination will be conducted on multiple days in two or three shifts, depending on the number of Candidates and Subject choices.

8. Examination format:

  • Section III – General Aptitude Test

Section I

  • Section IA will give candidates the option to choose from 13 languages.
  • In each language, 50 questions are to be attempted. All questions are compulsory.
  • Candidates will be assessed on their language skills through reading comprehension in MCQ-based questions with each language given 60 minutes.

Section II

Section II will have 27 domain-specific subjects to choose from, with a limit of 6 domains per candidate as applicable for a University or Universities.

  • In this section, 50 questions are to be attempted out of 50 and they will be tested as per the NCERT Class 12 syllabus in MCQ-based question form with candidates getting 60 minutes per domain.

Section III

Section III will have a general test. In this section, 50 questions are to be attempted out of 50 and they will be tested through General knowledge, Current affairs, General Mental Ability, numerical ability, quantitative reasoning, and logical and analytical reasoning in MCQ-based question form with candidates getting 60 minutes for it.

Language in which CUET will be conducted

CUET 2026 will be conducted in 13 Indian languages i.e. English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

  • CUET (UG) is being offered in 321 Cities including 15 cities outside India.

Important Points:

  1. The Exam will be held on multiple days in two or three shifts, depending on the number of Candidates and Subject Choices.
  2. Candidates can choose a minimum of three and a maximum of five Subjects from all three sections.
